Why You Need a Tankless Water Heater

Why You Need a Tankless Water Heater
Take a minute to think about your water heater.

There are many upgrades you can make to your home’s plumbing. Take a minute to think about your water heater. When was the last time it was replaced? A tank-based water heater can only last so long. Here are some of the reasons why you might need to switch to a tankless water heater instead.

Scalding Shower Water

Let’s start by talking about one of the most common plumbing problems caused by an aging water heater: scalding water. Even in the dead of winter, no one wants to be cooked while they are in the shower. This is why you might want to upgrade from a traditional water heater to a tankless model instead. Conventional water heaters use a method called thermal stacking to push hot water into your pipes. This also moves cold water back to the bottom where it can be reheated. The problem is that the hot water at the top is also warmed up more than it needs to be. Since tankless water heaters don’t need a tank, this problem is a thing of the past.

No Hot Water

Here’s a problem from the other end of the scale: you don’t have any hot water at all. The tankless water heater you install uses electricity to heat up water every time you need it. This helps conserve water because there isn’t any hot water waiting for you to use it – during which it can go cold again. If your current water heater isn’t meeting your expectations anymore, then it could be time or a change.

Energy Bill Skyrocketing

When the weather outside is frightful, you’ll probably be using your home’s heater more often. That already costs money by increasing your energy bill. Did you know that a faulty water heater can make the problem worse? Tankless water heaters don’t use as much energy and are far more efficient.

No More Room

One more thing: since tankless water heaters don’t have a tank, they take up less room in your home. This is good news for crowded laundry rooms or utility rooms in your home’s basement. Even if you have a small home, you can still find a place for these water heaters!
