If you have completed everything on your home improvement list for this summer, pat yourself on the back. Take some time to sip lemonade and relax on your back patio. Enjoying the sunshine is a part of the summer fun, after all. Once you’re done, it’s time to take a shower. But you’ll enjoy it so much more in a remodeled bathroom.
Planning the Project
The first phase of remodeling your bathroom is planning. Without planning, the project could take much longer than you want and go over the budget you set. Both conditions are unacceptable. Plus, you shouldn’t be in this alone.
Figure out where the plumbing lines are and how waste will be removed. Remodeling the bathroom shouldn’t involve flooding the whole place out. Be sure to follow all codes related to the project; if the contractor you select tries to cut corners, then they’re not the right one for you. Placing the walls and pipes is also an important consideration.
Another factor is where the shower and tub will be placed, and whether or not they will be distinct features of the room. Finally, decide where you want the toilet and sink. In some cases, a double vanity could be more useful than a single one will.
Getting a New Shower or Tub
The next phase involves getting a new shower or tub. A liner might not be enough to stop leaks. Plus, you could have a tub that you can’t use because the tile or grout need to be replaced. That is another reason for wanting to renovate the room. Pick the showerhead you want, if you want a body spray, and the design of the handles for control the pressure and temperature of the water.
Picking New Fixtures
Finally, the last phase of the project has to do with all of the fixtures that will go into the room. Your new look bathroom will be ready in next to no time, but you can’t forget about the fixtures! The hardware can tie the whole room together and give it a much more elegant feel. Finishes commonly found in other bathrooms include chrome, nickel, brass, bronze, and matte. Which one is right for you? That depends on your aesthetic.
