What is Your Noisy Plumbing Saying to You?

What is Your Noisy Plumbing Saying to You?
At some point, some part of your home’s plumbing system is going to make a noise that doesn’t sound quite right.

At some point, some part of your home’s plumbing system is going to make a noise that doesn’t sound quite right. Banging, whistling, knocking, popping, or gurgling, if you hear one of these noises, you’re going to want to know why. We’ve prepared this helpful guide that will hopefully shed some light on what might be going on.

Banging Pipes

The pipes that supply water to your home are made of metal and may occasionally make some noises. If there is excessive banging, it could be caused by a pipe not being properly secured or an obstruction somewhere in the system. If there is an obstruction, you will want to have that taken care of as soon as possible. Even the smallest blocks can cause big problems if left untreated. Once the issue is fixed, the banging should subside.

Whistling Shower Head

If your shower head is whistling, it may simply be clogged. Over time, minerals in the water can build up around the holes in your shower head causing the clogs. Simply removing your shower head and giving it a good cleaning should do the trick. If you’ve gotten it all squeaky clean and it’s still whistling at you, it may be time to do some shopping for a new one.

Gurgling Drain

When you flush your toilet, do you hear a gurgling noise coming from your shower or sink drain? It could mean you have:

  • A Clogged Pipe- Food and hair particles build up easily in your drains. Set up a drain cleaning appointment with one of our expert drain cleaning technicians and they’ll fix the problem for you quickly.
  • Air in your pipes somewhere
  • A drain venting issue of some sort
  • Sewer Line problem- A more severe problem could point to an issue with your sewer line. The most common cause for a break in your sewer line is due to tree roots. If you suspect that you might have this problem, call Master Plumbing as soon as possible!
